Attorney
Why are you working at Hertoghs?
At Hertoghs, top quality is our priority. What is special about working at Hertoghs is the drive to achieve the best possible results for our clients as a team. There is a lot of scope for personal development and everyone is encouraged to reach their full potential.
What attracts you in Hertoghs’ areas of expertise?
To me, it gets interesting when criminal law and procedural tax law start to intersect. I work on cases where clients are up against an all-powerful government, which tends to feel extremely daunting for them. Every case is different because clients have all kinds of different interests.
What is your particular expertise and how did you develop it?
I am currently developing my craft, both as far as criminal law and procedural tax law are concerned. My specific interest lies with VAT.
What is your definition of a good attorney?
The crux for me is being a good listener, wanting to understand and exploring appropriate solutions. Legal expertise alone does not cut it. Every case is different and deserves its own tailor-made approach. This requires strategic choices based on a combination of expert knowledge and the client’s best interests. Rigid where needed and flexible where possible.
What can you share about your private life?
I am not one to sit still. I enjoy discovering new things and socialising. In my spare time, I like to cook, have dinner with my friends and family, and go travelling.
