Why are you working at Hertoghs?

Working at Hertoghs means operating at the highest level. By working together in a close team, the creative thinking process is optimised and top quality is guaranteed. Also, there is plenty of room for personal development, which gives me the opportunity to develop into an expert in criminal law and procedural tax law.

What attracts you in Hertoghs’ areas of expertise?

The intersection between tax law and criminal law, together with the rapidly changing social developments in both areas, always results in special and unique issues. For me as a lawyer, these are great challenges. In addition, the government is a strong party in criminal cases and tax procedures and every time Hertoghs does its utmost to represent the client's interests as well as possible.

What is your particular expertise and how did you develop it?

Currently I am developing myself in criminal law and procedural tax law. From my experience as a tax consultant, I have a broad knowledge of procedural tax law, which comes in handy in (criminal) tax cases. This provides a strong basis for my further development within the Hertoghs' expertise.

What is your definition of a good attorney?

The client is key. The profession of attorney offers a unique opportunity to illuminate the human side behind all the case documents and files in legal proceedings. Then the actual situation becomes visible, and an attorney can optimally defend the interests of the client. That makes the profession fascinating and dynamic.

What can you share about your private life?

In my spare time, music plays a major role. I play classical piano and you can often find me at the Amsterdam Concertgebouw and at the Stopera for concerts, operas or ballets. I also like to indulge in culinary specialties in one of the many restaurants in Amsterdam, and I try to compensate for this interest by running, swimming and rowing.
