Why are you working at Hertoghs?
I am currently seconded from another law firm where the emphasis was more on advising clients. What appeals to me at Hertoghs is the litigation aspect where you are involved from A to Z in the tax or criminal law process.
What attracts you in Hertoghs’ areas of expertise?
The fields that Hertoghs' practice focuses on - formal tax law and criminal law - involve a lot of dynamics. In this practice, you have to anticipate a lot of what another litigant such as the tax authorities or the public prosecutor intends to do. I find that very intriguing.
Wat is je expertise/interesse heb je en hoe ben je daartoe gekomen?
During my studies, I consciously chose to do the broad master's programme Toga aan de Maas alongside Tax Law, which actually covered all areas of law - criminal law, administrative law and civil law. I think it's good for a lawyer to master the basics of these three areas of law. Within these areas of law, I personally have a slight preference for tax procedural law.
What is your definition of a good attorney?
The most important trait of a good lawyer is being prepared to go as far as possible for his client's interests. This requires a different approach in every case and thus tailor-made work for the client.
What can you share about your private life?
In my spare time, I can regularly be found at the football stadium. I also often hit a ball on the padel court and love to go on beautiful trips.
